During today’s press conference in the Government press center covering investment and trade-and-economic activities since the beginning of the year, journalists raised the issue of the development of gas infrastructure in Astana and suburban villages.

Deputy Minister of Energy Magzum Mirzagaliyev answered that the construction of the Saryarka main gas pipeline will be implemented within the framework of the Fifth Social Initiative of the President of Kazakhstan.

At the first stage, the gas pipeline stretching more than a thousand kilometers will pass through the territory of three regions – Kyzylorda, Karaganda and Akmola regions, Magzum Mirzagaliyev said.

According to the Deputy Minister, all settlements along the main gas pipeline will have access to gas infrastructure. Natural gas will also be available in dwellings of residents of suburban villages.

At the second stage the gas pipeline will be stretched to the city of Kokshetau and further it will pass to the city of Petropavlovsk. All the villages of the northern regions of Kazakhstan, which are close to the gas pipeline, will also be connected, the Deputy Minister of Energy summed up.

Recall, the direction Further Development of the Country’s Gas Infrastructure of the President’s Five Social Initiatives provides for the construction of the Saryarka gas main pipeline to provide natural gas to the population of the capital and northern regions of Kazakhstan.

The main gas pipeline will run along the route Karaozek (Kyzylorda region) – Zhezkazgan – Karaganda – Temirtau – Astana. It will allow not only to provide gas to 2.7 million people, but also to create new production of small and medium-sized businesses. Ecology will also improve.

Only in Astana, the transition to gas will reduce harmful emissions into the atmosphere 6 times or by 35 thousand tonnes per year. The implementation of this project will make it possible to further provide gas to other regions.
