Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Bakyt Torobaev met with Deputy Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Hasan Kleib.

During the meeting, topical issues of cooperation in the field of intellectual property were discussed, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.

Bakyt Torobaev noted that the procedure for approving the State Program for the Development of Intellectual Property and Innovation in the Kyrgyz Republic for 2022-2026 is being completed. “At the same time, our country is considering the issue of joining the Lisbon Agreement on the Protection of Appellations of Origin and their International Registration, which will allow us to appreciate domestic agricultural products in foreign countries,” he said.

Bakyt Torobaev emphasized that the creative economy is defined as one of the priorities of the state policy of the republic.

“The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a concept for the development of a creative economy. Work is underway to create a park of creative industries. We are interested in developing a creative economy and implementing projects in the field of intellectual property,” he said.

Deputy Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization Hasan Kleib, in turn, expressed his readiness to strengthen and further develop cooperation with Kyrgyzstan.

He confirmed his readiness to support initiatives in the field of creative industries, as well as in the implementation of the State Program for the Development of Intellectual Property and Innovation in the Kyrgyz Republic for 2022-2026.
