Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan to establish working groups between law enforcement agencies
A meeting was held on Sunday between Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev and his Tajik counterpart Sirojiddin Muhriddin, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said.
During the meeting, held on the margins of the European Union – Central Asia dialogue in Dushanbe, special attention was paid to the protection of rights and interests of citizens of both countries.
In this regard, the Kyrgyz side proposed to hold consultations involving representatives of authorized bodies of the prosecutor’s office, the penal system, border agencies, as well as restore the practice of coordination meetings of authorized bodies of both countries.
“The sides agreed on the need to create operational working groups between the Prosecutor General’s Offices, Ministries of Internal Affairs and other law enforcement agencies for the speedy resolution of emerging issues to protect the rights and interests of citizens of the two countries,” the report said.
In addition, Minister Kazakbaev drew the attention of his Tajik counterpart to the need to continue active joint work to build confidence among local population of border regions of the two countries in order to ensure stability and security in the border area.
