Kyrgyzstan propose to create Center for Combating International Organized Crime in Bishkek

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan proposed to create a Center for Combating International Organized Crime in Bishkek at the Fourth Meeting of the Ministers of Internal Affairs and Public Security of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states in Tashkent.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic said that Minister Ulan Niyazbekov speaking during the meeting noted that in the realities of the present time it can be said with confidence that the SCO has turned from a regional structure into an authoritative international community.

He stressed that the priority areas of interaction between the SCO member states are the fight against terrorism, extremism, separatism, drug trafficking, transnational crimes and human trafficking, which pose an urgent and serious threat to the whole world, the report said.

Also in his speech, Ulan Niyazbekov noted that much depends on the joint efforts of all interested parties in the fight against transnational organized crime, terrorism, drug trafficking, cybercrime and human trafficking.

As one of the mechanisms to counter the challenges and threats to the security of the SCO member states, Ulan Niyazbekov proposed to support the initiative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan to establish a Center for Combating International Organized Crime in Bishkek, since this center is essential both for the Kyrgyz Republic and for the region.
