Kyrgyzstan, Korea sign MoU within framework of HPP construction project

The State Committee for Industry, Energy and Subsoil Use (Kyrgyzstan) and GOPPE.C.C. KOREAHOLDING. Co., LTD.(South Korea) have signed the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation in Seoul.

According to the Memorandum, the sides will cooperate in the framework of the project of construction of hydroelectric power plants on the basis of equality and mutual benefit, the press service of the Committee reported.

The parties intend to consider the possibility of cooperation in the field of design and construction of hydropower plants in Kyrgyzstan with the introduction of best practices in the operation of hydropower facilities, aimed at improving and increasing the efficiency, reliability and safety of the energy sector of the Kyrgyz Republic

Note that on Oct. 23-25, 2019, at the invitation of the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Seoul Mayor’s Office, Chairman of the State Agency for Industry, Energy and Subsoil Use Emil Osmonbetov participated in the Korean International Renewable Energy Conference (IREC) in Seoul, Korea.

Bilateral meetings with Korea’s Minister of Trade Industry and Energy Sung Yun-mo and Deputy Minister Joo Young-joon were held during the IREC.

The meetings included discussions the prospects of cooperation in the field of energy, including investment in the construction of hydropower plants in Kyrgyzstan, as well as the implementation of joint projects on renewable energy sources.

Brief discussions were also held with President and Chair of The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) Ban Ki-moon, President of the Korea Energy Agency (KEA) Chang Seob Kim, and heads of delegations from Germany, Mongolia, Australia, Cambodia and other countries
