In January — March 2023, the volume of electricity imports to Kyrgyzstan amounted to 928 million kilowatt-hours. The National Statistical Committee provided such data.
Compared to last year, the figure increased by 94,300 kilowatt-hours. Most of the electricity was imported from Kazakhstan — 485.9 million kilowatt-hours. In addition, the republic purchased 297.3 million kilowatt-hours from Uzbekistan and 145.6 million kilowatt-hours from Turkmenistan.
The total cost of imported electricity amounted to more than 2 billion soms. This means that one kilowatt cost 2.19 soms on average. At the same time, the republic bought electricity from Kazakhstan for 2.59 soms and from Turkmenistan for 2.62 soms. The cost of deliveries from Uzbekistan is estimated at 1,200 soms. It is the reimbursement of electricity retained during the cold weather from Turkmenistan.
