Kyrgyzstan faces problem of unhealthy child nutrition – study

The results of a study (COSI) on obesity surveillance among children in Kyrgyzstan were presented in Bishkek today.
According to the study, overweight and obesity are most common among children under 7 years old. The highest prevalence of overweight was found in the capital city of Bishkek.
There is a problem of unhealthy diet among children in Kyrgyzstan.
“For example, young Kyrgyzstanis do not eat enough fresh fruit and a variety of vegetables. But sweets in the form of chocolate bars and other things are in their diet almost regularly,” the report says.
