Kyrgyzstan at ‘Heart of Asia- Istanbul Process’ 8th Ministerial Conference in Turkey
Delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic, headed by Deputy Foreign Ministry Nurlan Abdrakhmanov, took part in the “Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process” 8th Ministerial Conference, held Monday, Dec. 9 in Turkish capital, Istanbul.
The Conference with the theme Peace, Partnership and Prosperity was opened by Presidents of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani and Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and was co-chaired by foreign ministers of Afghanistan and Turkey, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan said.
The Conference participants discussed the issues of further promotion of regional cooperation with the aim of integrating Afghanistan into the system of regional relations.
In his speech, the head of the Kyrgyz delegation expressed support for the Afghan government’s efforts to achieve peace in the country.
In addition, Abdrakhmanov called on participants of the Istanbul Process to assist in resolving the problem of the Afghan Kyrgyz in the Big and Little Pamirs.
The Ministerial Conference resulted in the adoption of the Istanbul Declaration, which reflects the specific areas of cooperation between the member states and countries supporting the process of strengthening security, developing trade and economic ties and regional integration.
