Kyrgyz music group to take part in int’l festival in Uzbekistan


Komuz Duet music group from Kyrgyzstan will take part in the Sharq taronalari (Melodies of Orient) XII international music festival, to be held in Samarkand on August 2630.

This year 146 singers and musicians from 29 music bands from 33 countries will take part in the event.

Music groups from Fiji, Myanmar and Argentina will participate in this festival for the first time.

Sharq taronalari (Melodies of Orient) international music festival is traditionally held in Samarkand once every two years, at the end of August. It was first held in 1997 at the initiative of First President Islam Karimov. The purpose of the festival is to popularize and preserve the national musical art.

The Festival is included in UNESCO’s international cultural events.
