Kyrgyz FM meets with newly appointed chairperson of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly

A meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev with the newly appointed Chairperson of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Margaret Cederfelt took place on Friday on the sidelines of the annual ministerial meeting of the OSCE in Stockholm.

The sides discussed the results of the parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan held at the end of November 2021. The Kyrgyz minister expressed gratitude to the OSCE PA represented by Mrs. M. Cederfelt for sending an observer mission to Kyrgyzstan to monitor the voting process.

In addition, the sides touched upon the issues of strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation in the OSCE area. It was noted that parliamentary diplomacy continues to make a significant contribution to ensuring the comprehensive security of the region.

Minister Kazakbaev welcomed the appointment of the OSCE PA Special Representative for Central Asia by the OSCE PA Chairperson, which, according to the Kyrgyz side, demonstrates that the Central Asian region is an integral part of the OSCE common space and the expansion of cooperation with it.

In conclusion, Cederfelt accepted the invitation to pay an official visit to Kyrgyzstan and expressed interest in intensifying cooperation with the new composition of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic for further intensification of inter-parliamentary dialogue and strengthening the institution of parliamentarism in the Kyrgyz Republic.
