Kyrgyz FM and CSTO secretary general discuss issues of regional security

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbek Kulubaev received Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Stanislav Zas, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic said.

 

During the meeting, issues of regional security, improving the activities of the CSTO, taking into account modern challenges and threats, as well as the preparations for the upcoming joint meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers, the Council of Defense Ministers and the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils and the next session of the CSTO Collective Security Council were discussed.

 

Referring to the situation in the region, Kulubaev informed his interlocutor about the situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border. He noted that the illegal actions of the Tajik side are an aggressive and destabilizing action that runs counter to bilateral and multilateral agreements between the two countries.

 

The minister stressed that thanks to the unchanging position of Kyrgyzstan on the need to resolve the entire range of issues between the two countries exclusively by political and diplomatic means, it was possible to reach agreements aimed at stabilizing the situation.

 

The foreign minister noted the need to launch the existing CSTO mechanisms as soon as possible to implement the agreements on stabilizing the situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, reached at the working meeting of the foreign ministers of the CSTO member states in New York, the report said.

 

Kulubaev expressed interest in effective and mutually beneficial cooperation within the framework of the CSTO in all areas, taking into account the interests of the Kyrgyz Republic.
