Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbek Kulubaev took part in a regular meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), chaired by Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan, the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said Friday.

During the meeting, foreign ministers of CSTO member states exchanged views on topical issues on the international and regional agenda, as well as further interaction on issues having a negative impact on the situation in the regions, including those in the immediate vicinity of the CSTO area of responsibility.

In his speech, Jeenbek Kulubaev noted the need to improve procedures for the use of CSTO Collective Forces, as well as to increase the effectiveness of the Organization’s Crisis Response Center.

The sides agreed to continue close interaction to respond to existing and emerging challenges and threats to the security of CSTO member states.

The Kyrgyz foreign minister also participated in a meeting of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan with CSTO foreign ministers.

Following the meeting, foreign ministers adopted a Statement on international security and approved a Plan of consultations of representatives of CSTO member states on foreign policy, defense and security issues for 2022 – 2024.

The next meeting of the CSTO Ministerial Council is scheduled for the second half of 2022 in Armenia.
