Kyrgyz deputy FM holds series of bilateral meetings with heads of delegations in New York

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Dinara Kemelova held a series of bilateral meetings with heads of delegations in New York City, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said.

During the participation in the General Debate of the Tenth Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, Kemelova had a number of bilateral meetings with heads of delegations: Deputy Minister for Multilateral and Global Affairs of the Republic of Korea Ham Sang wook, Minister of Disarmament and Arms Control of New Zealand Phil Twyford, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Georgia Lasha Darsalia, Secretary of State for Strategic Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania Lulian Fota, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia Tanja Fajon, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway Eivind Vad Petersson and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia Tariat.

In addition, short talks were held with heads of delegations of Japan, Jordan, the Republic of Kiribati, Denmark, as well as representatives of the United States and Brazil.

During these meetings, Dinara Kemelova discussed the current issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, as well as the promotion of Kyrgyzstan’s candidacy to the UN Human Rights Council for the period 2023-2025 and to non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council for 2027-2028.

The deputy minister spoke about Kyrgyzstan’s set of initiatives on disarmament and non-proliferation education, as well as the International Year of Sustainable Mountain Development, focusing on specific proposals of the Kyrgyz side on institutionalization of the Group of Mountain Countries, creation of a special fund of mountain countries and mountain forest conservation program, etc.
