The delegation of Kyrgyzstan headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Aibek Artykbaev on March 16-17 is taking part in the 49th session of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (CMFA OIC) in Nouakchott, Islamic Republic of Mauritania, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said.

The session is held under the slogan “Moderation: the key to security and stability”, which is chaired by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mauritania, Mohammed Salem Ould Merzoug, and is attended by the foreign ministers of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, representatives of observer countries and international organizations.

During the session, the participants will consider a number of political, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other issues of interaction within the Organization. The agenda of the session is devoted to the discussion of traditional issues of the Islamic world, support for the Muslim community and its culture in various parts of the world, as well as topical problems of modern society in countering violent extremism and terrorism, as well as issues of security and stability.

One of the topics is also the problem of Islamophobia, timed to coincide with the first anniversary of the UN declaration on March 15 as the International Day against Islamophobia.

In addition, on the sidelines of this event, Artykbaev will hold bilateral meetings with the heads of delegations of the OIC member countries, as well as partner countries and observers of the Organization.
