Kyrgyz culture minister, JICA executive senior vice president discuss co op issues

. Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism of Kyrgyzstan Azamat Jamankulov received Executive Senior Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency(JICA) Kazuhiko Koshikawa.

At the meeting, the sides discussed topical issues of cooperation between the ministry and JICA, as well as identified the main areas for further cooperation, including cooperation in the study, preservation and development of intangible cultural heritage with the involvement of the local population, the press service of the ministry reported.

The minister and the vice president touched upon issue of Kyrgyzstan’s tourist capacity development in order to increase the flow of tourists from foreign countries.

For this purpose, Jamankulov expressed his request to organize the exchange of experience in improving the level of services, provided to tourists, construction of roadside infrastructure, camping, etc.

He also noted the importance of the One Village One Product JICA project for raising the potential of villages, familiarizing foreigners with the culture and traditions of the Kyrgyz people on the ground and in the development of the tourism industry.

Also, the Ministry of Culture has submitted an application for regional development and promotion of tourism at UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Chui Oblast, which are considered by JICA. Within the framework of this project the territory of Ak Beshim settlement (Suyab) will be used.
