KTZ: Energy saving program to reduce about KZT152 bn of expenses
It should be noted that within the framework of this forum the sixth conference “Energy Efficiency in the City” is taking place. The agenda includes the issues of urban planning, construction and transport.
Batyr Kotyrev informed that the share of the transport sector in total energy consumption in Kazakhstan ranges from 10 to 20% of the total share. The transport sector in the country takes the fourth place in terms of energy consumption of primary resources.
“In this connection we understand the need to implement energy efficiency measures in the transport sector. Nowadays the railway transport is the most environmentally friendly mean of transport, which has the least negative impact on the environment and is achieved by the following two conditions. The first is a low specific fraction of consumption. Secondly, the wide application of the electric traction of trains provides a minimum amount of emissions in comparison with the diesel traction”, he explained.
The railway transport in Kazakhstan is the largest consumer of energy resources and annually consumes about 30% of diesel fuel and 4% of electricity produced in Kazakhstan.
“The cost of purchasing fuel and energy resources, unfortunately, increases every year. This is due to the fact that the cost of energy resources has a tendency to increase. To date, we use up to 94% of our train consumption and 6% on infrastructure. In general, if we digitize company’s expenses, then they make up more than 100 billion tenge. The main indicator of the effectiveness of energy saving is the reduction in the specific costs of fuel and energy resources”, the chief engineer noted.
As it is known, in 2013 company’s management approved the Energy Saving Program for the period until 2020. The main objective of the Program is to improve the energy efficiency of the rail transport through the introduction of innovative technical means and technologies.
“Priority directions are the complete and reliable energy supply of the transportation process, a reduction in the specific consumption of fuel and energy resources. The implementation of this program until 2025 will reduce about 152 billion tenge or 13% will reduce the cost of fuel and energy resources”, B. Kotyrev summed up.
The strategy of the national company “KTZ” is aimed at the introduction of the highest technologies used in the field of renewable and alternative energy sources. Today, complex solutions are also applied to increase the production processes.
