Kazakhstans agriculture significantly grows in 2016

At the todays enlarged meeting of the Government chaired by the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, the Ministerial Cabinet reported on the social and economic development and execution of budget in 2016.

According to the First Deputy Prime Minister � Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Askar Myrzakhmetov, the last year was one of the most successful ones for agriculture. Production grew by 5.5%. Gross grain harvest amounted to 23.7 million tons, which is 4 million tons higher than in 2015. Harvest of vegetables and melons grew by half a million and reached 5.8 million tons level. Production of crops increased by 7.8%, livestock � 2.7%, food � 4%.

Fixed assets investments increased 1.5 times. Imports decreased by 13%. Export of grain amounted to 8.6 million tons or 21% higher than last year. 56 investment projects 41 billion tenge worth were introduced through KazAgro.

Agriculture Minister spoke also about the main approaches for the tasks set in the Presidential Message. In particular, 11 types of inefficient subsidies are excluded; there are amendments to regulations of 35 types of subsidies. As a result, with the same budget the coverage of producers with state support will increase 7.5 times. In addition, amendments will be introduced to the insurance legislation to further enhance the effectiveness of subsidies.

According to your instruction, 157 cooperatives which covered 15,000 private farms were created last year. Over 100 milk collection points and 7,000 family feedlots were established on their basis, A.Myrzakhmetov informed the Head of State.

The number of new cooperatives will be doubled this year. In general, over the next 5 years, half a million of smallholdings and small farms will be covered with services of the cooperatives.

Among the other tasks planned in the framework of the Message and the state program for AIC development is the training of specialists, the search for effective global technologies, updating agricultural fleet, more efficient use of land and expanding the irrigated land, flooding of pastures.
