Kazakhstani Sambo Wrestlers Are Leading at the World Cup for the Prizes of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan
The national team of Kazakhstan is in the lead at the World Sambo Cup held in Astana among men and women and in combat sambo for the prizes of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as informed by the media center of the capital’s Mayor’s Office.
Based on the results of three days, our team has already obtained 10 gold, 9 silver and 29 bronze medals. The second place is confidently taken by the Georgian national team (4 gold medals). Thetop threeis closed by Uzbekistan (2 gold medals).
Today, “Daulet” Sports Complex is hosting the final fights. It is expected that the final results of the tournament will be clear on the weekend.
“Today this tournament, which has been held for three days within the framework of EXPO, is being over. The national team of Kazakhstan is the leader based on the results of three days. We have 10 gold medals for today. But there are still final fights. I think that we will remain leaders. Very strong athletes came from Georgia, Germany and other countries. Participants of the fights, coaches will be invited to EXPO exhibition,” – said Rapil Zhoshybayev, the President of the Sports and Combat Sambo Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the EXPO Commissioner, in an interview with the media center correspondent.
Over 200 sambo wrestlers from 16 countries of the world took part in the competitions: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Germany, Georgia, Moldova, Russia, Romania, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, South Korea, Japan, Tajikistan and the USA. The main trophy of the tournament will be drawn among representatives of 9 weight categories: under 52, 57, 62, 68, 74, 84, 90, 100 kg and above 100 among men and women.
