Kazakhstan, Turkey to hold joint military training

Mazhilis deputies approved at todays plenary meeting the bill On ratification of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on support to the host party during the training of special purpose units that was concluded on January 20, 2016.

According to Deputy Defence Minister Talgat Mukhtarov, the MoU is aimed at identifying the obligations and responsibilities of the parties and the main principles of providing support to host party during the training of special purpose units. It also outlines the standards, types, levels and methods of support to be provided by the sending party for the training period.

According to the bill, the costs associated with the transportation of unit involved in training to/from the host state shall be borne by the sending party.

Storing, transporting and disposing hazardous substances and ammunition follow the host countrys legislation.

The Memorandum was initiated by the Turkish side and signed on their initiative in accordance with the Turkish internal laws. Such international memorandum is required for foreign armed forces participation in training on Turkish territory, Talgat Mukhtarov said.

Kazakhstan has earlier concluded a similar MoU with the UK and Uzbekistan.
