Kazakhstan to work industry program for development of rare earth metals
This work is carried out within the framework of the Plan for the Development of Rare and Rare-Earth Metals in Kazakhstan for 2015-2019, approved by the Decree of the Government of Kazakhstan.
The project of this kind in independent Kazakhstan is implemented for the first time and is very relevant in light of the shortage that has arisen, with the supply of rare-earth raw materials to the world market.
In total, 18 prospective sites in Kazakhstan have been previously allocated, according to which the company will evaluate the expected resources and determine the directions for further evaluation work. As a result, a sectoral program for the development of rare earth metals in Kazakhstan will be developed.
To implement the project, “Kazgeology” set up four groups of geologists to evaluate sites in the Eastern, Central, Southern and North-Western regions of Kazakhstan with centers in Ust-Kamenogorsk, Almaty and Karaganda.
“Over a 2-year period, the company will have to complete a large amount of work with field verification of analytical studies on all major rare-earth ore provinces in Kazakhstan, which will result in the development of a program for further geological research and transferred to the Committee for Geology and Subsoil Use of the Ministry for Investment and Development of Kazakhstan”, the Ministry said.
Today the company evaluates this project as one of the most promising and competitive directions in industrial and innovative development, taking into account the high demand in the world market and the trends in the development of high-tech and innovative electronic productions.
