by March 6, 2017 Key Issues

As the Rector noted, within the United Nations in different years Kazakhstan has put forward a number of initiatives aimed at peacekeeping. This is the convocation of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building in Asia (CICA), and the establishment of the UN Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA), and rehabilitation of zones of ecological disaster of the Aral Sea and Semipalatinsk, and others.

“As it is known, a few days ago, on March 2, our country celebrated the 25th anniversary of the accession to the UN. During its membership in the UN ranks Kazakhstan has managed not only to successfully integrate into the international community of the state, but to take the noticeable place in it. Evidence of this is the official entry of Kazakhstan in the rights of non-permanent UN Security Council member since the beginning of the current year”, – F. Zhakypova noted.

She noted that, this event is certainly a historic victory and one of the main foreign policy successes of our country, and also emphasized the importance of partnership between Kazakhstan and the UN.

“In particular, the Academy has enough partnerships with UN organizations such as the United Nations Development Programme, Children’s fund “UNICEF”, Regional Centre of the United Nations on Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, Office of the United Nations Fund for Population Activities”, – F. Zhakypova concluded.
