KAZAKHSTAN SUSPENDS TRANSPORT ROUTES TO AND FROM CHINA AMID CORONAVIRUS CONCERNS
The Inter-governmental Commission under the Kazakh Government has adopted additional protective measures to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus to Kazakhstan, the PM’s press service informs.
Under the additional measures all passenger transportations between Kazakhstan and China are suspended beginning 29 January 2020; passenger trains between Kazakhstan and China will cease to operate from 1 February 2020.
The additions also include the suspension of regular air communication between Kazakhstan and China from 3 February 2020, as well as the visa issuance to Chinese nationals is frozen.
The early suggestion by the International Tennis Federation to shift the Federation Cup qualifying matches from China’s Dongguan to Nur-Sultan from 4 to 8 February 2020, and the holding of the Asian Water Polo Championship qualifiers in the period from 12 to 16 February 2020 are turned down.
It is said that the Inter-governmental Commission closely monitors the situation.
As of 29 January this year no case of the novel coronavirus has been confirmed in Kazakhstan.
