Kazakhstan speaks at World Mining Congress
On October 18, Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) kicked off the 24th World Mining Congress, program of which includes Plenary Session with representatives of the largest mining countries. Official report from Kazakhstan was made at the session by Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Investments and Development Zamir Saginov.
The report revealed statistics on the mining industry of Kazakhstan, the forecasts for industry development, as well as potential of Kazakhstans mining sector. Due to competitive fields and favorable economic conditions, the mining process in Kazakhstan is characterized by its stability and steady growth even in the face of international cycling conditions and the volatility of world prices, Z. Saginov noted.
The first day of the Congress was additionally marked with discussion meetings attended by representatives of the worlds leading mining companies. ERG CEO Benedikt Sobotka expressed his opinion on the innovations used in the sector, as well as on innovations able to improve the mining companies performance.
Director General of National Center on Complex Processing of Mineral Raw Materials of the Republic of Kazakhstan Abdurasul Zharmenov partook in the 2nd Plenary Session on Past, Present and Future: evolution of dialogue and knowledge generated by World Mining Congress. Participants discussed the theoretical and practical components of WMC.
I believe such meetings will contribute to attracting investments into the Kazakh geological exploration and mining. There are over 2,000 delegates here today; the data we have provided will rapidly spread around the world. I think, 2018 WMC in Astana will gather even more participants and the steps we take will help to attract investment in Kazakhstan, Zamir Saginov noted.
2016 World Mining Congress served on October 19 as a platform for a range of bilateral meetings on the potential cooperation issues. Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Investments and Development Zamir Saginov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Industrial Development and Safety of the Ministry of Investments and Development Kanat Baitov, Kazgeology JSC Chairman of the Board Galym Nurzhanov, and Atameken NCE Managing Director Evgeniy Bolgert met with representatives of AngloAmerican, VALE, Mineracao, and other world leaders. Following the meetings, agreements were reached on cooperation and joint development of the mining sector.
Successful negotiations were conducted with Ruben Fernandes from AngloAmerican and Edson Ribeiro from VALE. We place particular emphasize on the Brazilian mining companies in order to attract them to Kazakhstan, Bolgert explained.
The meetings were focused on potential forms of cooperation, as well on mineral potential of 2016 WMC participating countries. Kazakhstani stand, prepared by Kaznex Invest national agency, has captured a great interest of the visitors. Ourpavilionhasbeenacknowledgedasoneofthebest. The program is saturated, there are many meetings with leading mining companies and agreements on continuing cooperation on the Kazakhstan territory, M. Maykenov said.
The 24th World Mining Congress was kicked off on October 18 and will last until October 21. On the last day of the Congress the oil lamp � relay of holding the WMC – will be passed to Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan delegation includes over 40 representatives of Ministry of Investments and Development, Atameken NCE, KIDI JSC, Kaznex Invest JSC, Kazgeology JSC, Tau-Ken Altyn LLP, KAZ Minerals Management LLP, etc.
