Kazakhstan, Russia to discuss development of Baikonur cosmodrome in April 2017 in Kyzylorda
“Cooperation of enterprises of the military-industrial complex of Kazakhstan with Russian companies in terms of supply of military equipment, creation of regional service centers on the basis of the enterprises of the military-industrial complex of Kazakhstan are actul issues for discussion”, the message reads.
In addition, the sides discussed the implementation of joint projects in the defense industry and aerospace.
The creation of the Joint Committee on Science and Technology in the field of military-industrial complex was discussed during the meeting.
Implementation of the Concept of further cooperation on the “Baikonur” complex is one of the issues on the agenda of the meeting. The Concept was signed by A. Mamin and D. Rogozin in December 2016 during the visit of President Nursultan Nazarbayev to Russia.
The parties adopted decisions on the mechanisms of implementation of the areas of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia provided by the Concept.
Mamin and Rogozin also exchanged views on the performance of the Roadmap for the implementation of “Baiterek” project in 2016-2025, within which it’s planned to carry out modernization of ground infrastructure at the Baikonur Cosmodrome.
The issues of developing a joint long-term program of development of the city of Baikonur were discussed. Given the uniqueness of “Baikonur” complex the sides noted the importance of the organization of tourist routes to the launch site at the time of the international exhibition EXPO-2017 in Astana.
Following the talks, the sides agreed to hold the fifth session of the Intergovernmental Commission on complex “Baikonur” in April this year in the city of Kyzylorda.
