Kazakhstan registers growth of main indicators of production and manufacturing
The Government meeting chaired by Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev reviewed the results of resource extraction and industrial production for the first quarter of 2017.
Minister of Investments and Development Z. Kassymbek reported that according to results of the 1st quarter of the current year, the volume of industrial production grew by 5.8%, including the mining industry by 5.6%, manufacturing industry by 6.5%.
In the mining sector, the volume of extraction of non-ferrous metal ores increased by 10.8%, iron ore by 11.4%. In metallurgy, production volume increased by 7.1%, particularly in ferrous metallurgy by 7.3%, non-ferrous metallurgy by 7.3%. There is also an increase in the production of pharmaceuticals by 25.1 % and production of construction materials by 7.8%.
The volume of cargo transportation increased by 1.1% and amounted to 813 million tonnes. Freight turnover increased by 5.4% and amounted to 125 billion tonne-km. Passenger transportation increased by 0.8% and amounted to 5.4 billion people.
The most significant growth is observed in transportation of goods by rail. Freight transportation increased by 15.7% and amounted to 87 million tonnes, cargo turnover increased by 12.6% and amounted to 60 billion tonne-km.
