Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan expand cooperation in the defense industry

A delegation of the Ministry of Defense and Aerospace Industry paid a working visit to Bishkek, where it held a number of meetings with heads of military departments and ministries.

Minister of Defense and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan Beibut Atamkulov met with the Chairman of the State Committee for Defense Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Mirbek Kasymkulov.

The parties discussed issues of cooperation in the defense industry, establishment of inter-factory cooperation, as well as prospects for mutual supplies of military products.

In particular, the Kazakh delegation offered cooperation in the field of aviation equipment maintenance (repair of helicopter equipment), and also offered the Kyrgyz side products and services of the defense enterprises of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the power ministries and departments of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The conversation with the Minister for Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic Kubatbek Boronov covered the possible supply of multifunctional helicopters manufactured by the Kazakhstan enterprise Eurocopter Kazakhstan Engineering LLP to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Kazakhstani enterprises of the defense industry can supply military products to Kyrgyzstan, including light industry products. For example, the Kazakh company Tarazkozhobuv LLP has the opportunity to supply military footwear for the personnel of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Kazakh delegation offered cooperation to Kyrgyz partners in the joint use of Kazakhstan’s space systems for the prevention and management of emergency situations in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The proposed cooperation in the space sector includes exchange of information and experience in remote Earth sensing, as well as the training of personnel in space activities, according to the press service of the Ministry of Defence and Aerospace Industry.

Also, according to the information of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan, a meeting took place between the Kazakh Minister and the Chief of General Staff of Kyrgyzstan, Raimberdi Duishenbiev.

The sides discussed the state of military-technical cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan and noted the positive changes in cooperation development, the report says.

At the end of the working visit to Kyrgyzstan, Minister B. Atamkulov invited his Kyrgyz counterparts to take part in the V International Exhibition of Arms and Military Equipment KADEX-2018, which will be held in Astana from May 23 to May 25, 2018.
