KAZAKHSTAN IS INTERESTED IN VIETNAMESE HIGH TECH DEVELOPMENTS
Kazakh Ambassador to Vietnam Yerlan Baizhanov visited Ho Chi Minh City and met with Chairman of the People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong, Strategy2050.kz has learnt from the Kazakh MFA’s official website.
The sides discussed a wide range of issues of further development of bilateral relations, as well as ways to intensify interregional cooperation between our countries. The Kazakh diplomatic official informed the Chairman about the current state of bilateral relations, mutual trade, investment cooperation between Kazakhstan and Vietnam.
The Mayor of the largest city in Vietnam paid attention to a memorandum of cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Almaty, which was signed in 2011 and expired in 2016. In this regard, the interlocutors spoke out in favor of resuming close cooperation between the cities of Almaty and Ho Chi Minh.
Baizhanov acquainted Mr. Phong with the Almaty Development Strategy till 2050, the economic, investment and tourism potential of Almaty, the Vietnamese side was handed a package of relevant materials for a more detailed study. Emphasizing the importance of developing inter regional cooperation, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan assessed as potentially productive cooperation between the cities that occupy leading positions in the economies of the countries.
In turn, the Chairman of the People’s Committee spoke about the economic development of Ho Chi Minh City, which accounts for a quarter of Vietnam’s GDP and the same share of foreign direct investment. He noted that Ho Chi Minh City, where live 10 million people, forms 27 percent of the state budget of the country and is a leader in the industrial and innovative development of Vietnam.
We fully support the will to strengthen business and cultural ties between Almaty and Ho Chi Minh City. With great pleasure we are ready to accept the delegation of the city of Almaty and its business circles interested in cooperation with us, Phong said.
As part of the working visit to Ho Chi Minh City, the Kazakh diplomat got acquainted with the work of the Saigon Hi Tech Park (SHTP), which occupies a leading position among the scientific and technical centers of Vietnam.
Such large hi tech corporations as Intel (USA), Samsung (South Korea), Nidec (Japan), Sanofi (France), Datalogic (Italy), Microchip (USA), Sonion (Denmark), etc. are working on the SHTP territory. In total, more than 157 projects are being implemented in various areas: microelectronics, information technology, automation, nanotechnology, biotechnology and several others. The total number of employees in the park is more than 45,000.
At the end of 2019, total exports of goods and services from residents of the park amounted to $ 17.6 billion. It is planned in 2020 to achieve a result of $ 20.4 billion. The park includes a research center, collaborating with leading world universities.
During the meeting with President of the Saigon High Tech Park Nguyen Anh Thi, the head of the Kazakh diplomatic mission praised the scale and potential of the development of the special zone in Ho Chi Minh City.
Kazakhstan attaches great importance to the development of high technologies and innovations, your experience is very interesting for us, Baizhanov noted.
Touring the High Tech Park, Baizhanov also met with Chairman at the Vietnamese international company OptoElectronics International JSC Vo Quoc and watched the high tech workflow at the company, which is engaged in the production of fiber optic cables of a wide range of applications and is the only one a company in Vietnam in this sector.
In order to get acquainted with the economic development and potential of the Mekong Delta region, as well as explore opportunities for establishing bilateral business ties, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan visited the factory of one of the largest Vietnamese companies for the cultivation and production of fish products Godaco Seafood, with sales of $ 100 million.
