Kazakhstan intensifies cooperation within the framework of the Energy Charter
ASTANA, Minister of Foreign Affairs Beibut Atamkulov met with Secretary General of the International Energy Charter Urban Rusnak, during which he discussed the issues of expansion of Kazakhstan’s cooperation with the Energy Charter and the issues of diplomatic dialogue within multilateral energy cooperation.
Kazakhstan welcomes the need to adapt to modern conditions within the framework of the Energy Charter Process, focusing particularly on investment protection, transit and energy efficiency.
The co-chairs celebrated Kazakhstan’s chairmanship in 2014 at the International Energy Charter Conference. It has made a significant contribution to the promotion of the modernization process of the international organization launched in 2009. The role of the Astana Declaration, reflecting important political proposals of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the improvement of the energy charter process was highlighted. Kazakhstan has initiated initiatives to promote foreign investment in the areas of energy, transit and trade, dispute resolution, as well as the Charter self-renewal.
In the case of global contradictions, these measures are particularly relevant: all participants in the energy list are exporters, importers, and carriers – to take measures to improve the transit of resources from the Charter members, to protect traffic from political disagreements.
During his visit to Kazakhstan, the Energy Charter Minister met with Energy Minister Kanat Bozumbayev and representatives of KazMunaiGas, KazTransGas, Samruk-Energo, KazTransOil and KEGOC passed.
