Kazakhstan increases its investment cooperation with Greece
In 2017, Astana and Athens celebrate the sign date – the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties. In this regard, the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Greece is planning to hold a series of political, economic and cultural events.
Speaking about the priority directions of the work of the Embassy, A. Volkov noted that the emphasis is on increasing the investment and trade cooperation between two countries. In addition, the work is underway to develop high-level political and business contacts.
“The Greek side is interested in transporting Caspian energy resources to Western Europe through its territory and using the capacities of its oil refineries”, A. Volkov emphasized.
The Ambassador noted that the achieved level of relations with Greece confirms the availability of the great potential for deepening the dialogue on the whole range of cooperation. In modern competitive economic conditions for the withdrawal of contacts to a higher level from the Embassy, it is necessary to actively promote Kazakhstani goods and services in the Greek market.
In September 2016, the first Kazakh-Greek business forum was organized in Astana, in which 70 companies from both countries took part and two memoranda were signed in the field of investment in the Kazakhstan economy.
“One of the last major projects of the Greek engineering company “Semarco” is the development of the Aktau port infrastructure. The company also participates in the development of the Future Expansion Project Tengizchevroil, which is planned to be implemented in 2017-2020″, the Ambassador added.
An important event in the development of such cooperation between the countries should be the participation of the leadership of Greece in the international exhibition EXPO-2017 in Astana, where the country will present specific examples of energy infrastructure in accordance with the international environmental standards. The Mediterranean country has considerable experience in issues related to renewable energy sources, in particular solar energy with a 20% index.
He also informed about the participation of Greece in the international specialized exhibition “EXPO-2017”. It became known that the area of the Greek pavilion should be 400 sq.m. In addition, last year the Greek company “MM publications” in Greece donated its training platform ELT Skills for training volunteers of EXPO-2017 at no cost to “NC “Astana EXPO-2017”.
A. Volkov also said that, in addition to the development of political contacts and economic projects, the Embassy maintains a close relationship with former compatriots living in Greece. They always warmly respond to the Kazakh people who sheltered them in hard years.
Since January 1, 2017, Kazakhstan has introduced a visa-free regime for citizens of Greece. Currently, the Greek airline “Ellinair” operates flights between two countries on the routes of Thessaloniki – Astana – Thessaloniki (2 times a week from May to September) and Thessaloniki – Almaty – Thessaloniki (also 2 times a week from May to September).
