The sides discussed the issues of strengthening of trade and economic and cultural-humanitarian relations.

The Mayor noted the active dynamics of bilateral relations: over 11 months in 2016 the trade turnover between Almaty and Hungary increased by 27% since 2015 and amounted to 55.7 million dollars.

The State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary said that there is a great potential of mutually beneficial cooperation between the parties in the field of tourism. Visa-free regime launched this year boosts up the tourists flows.

“The World Winter Universiade-2017 is a significant achievement not only for Almaty, but also all Kazakhstan. Hungary presented a strong athletes composition, especially in speed skating”, – said Istvan Mikola.

He also noted that the construction of Universiade objects in Almaty will become an active tool for the development of event tourism. Hungary has also succeeded in the construction of major sports facilities and their effective operation. Despite the criticism, these investments lead to a wide multiplier effect.
