Kazakhstan expands military cooperation with Turkey

At the Senate meeting, the Agreement between the Governments of Kazakhstan and Turkey on military cooperation was ratified .

The chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations, Defense and Security Mukhtar Kul-Mohammed noted that Kazakhstani cadets are trained at NATO military schools in Turkey free of charge. About 200 officers have already completed the training, 20 cadets are currently studying , and 14 officers of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan are being trained at training centers in Turkey. The analysis shows a high level of theoretical and practical knowledge of graduates of higher military educational institutions of Turkey, who today are under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Defense, M. Kul-Mohammed emphasized.

Senator Muratbay Zholdasbayev asked the Deputy Minister of Defense Timur Dandybaev, are Turkish students studying in Kazakhstan? T. Dandybaev, explained that 16 Turkish troops are currently training at the National Defense University of the Republic of Kazakhstan named after the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy.

Ratification of the document will expand the capabilities of Kazakhstan in the military sphere, and will positively affect the development of military cooperation. In addition to training and education, the Agreement covers areas such as conducting joint exercises, carrying out scientific and technical research, cooperation in the defense industry, as well as in the field of cartography, hydrography, topographic and geodetic support, etc.
