Kazakhstan develops a set of measures to prevent forest-steppe fires
The Ministry of Internal Affairs prepared a set of measures to prevent forest-steppe fires in Kazakhstan. This was reported by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Yuri Ilyin during a press conference in the Government press center.
Yuri Ilyin noted that this year it is expected that the summer will be much drier than previous years and the average temperature in the northern regions may reach 40-45 degrees Celsius, which, accordingly, can trigger the occurrence of forest-steppe fires.
The Deputy Minister also noted that the Forestry Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan owns 25% of the country’s forest fund, the rest are territories that are under the jurisdiction of local executive bodies, therefore, the main task of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is to establish interaction, conduct qualitative outreach work.
Accordingly, in case of emergency, we will utilize a set of measures with the participation of all Ministries and departments. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has prepared aircraft with water discharge devices, together with the KTZ fire trains, as well as the work of units of the State Fire Service together with the forest guard for patrolling steppe and forest areas for rapid response, Y. Ilyin said.
He also stressed that the greatest attention will be paid to East Kazakhstan, Kostanay, and North Kazakhstan regions, which have large forest reserves and the Almaty region, mainly the mountainous areas.
