Kazakhstan completes chairmanship in the Council on CIS Youth Affairs
Today, on November 17, Astana hosted the latest meeting of the Council on CIS Youth Affairs. It was attended by Minister of Religious Affairs and Civil Society of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurlan Yermekbayev, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of the Azerbaijan Republic Intigam Babayev, Director of the Department of State Policy in the Education of Children and Youth of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation Igor Mikheev, heads of youth organizations of the CIS member- states, representatives of the Embassies of the Republics of Armenia, Belarus, Tajikistan and the Kyrgyz Republic in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Minister of Religious Affairs and Civil Society Nurlan Yermekbayev delivered a welcoming speech to the participants of the meeting.
“An eastern scholar Abu nasr al-Farabi once said: Show me your youth, and I will predict the future of your country”. That is why the friendly contacts of the youth of our countries, the basis of which we are trying to lay down and develop, are the guarantee of prosperity for each country individually and for our entire community as a whole,” � Minister N. Yermekbayev said in his speech.
The Minister introduced the participants to the main theses of the program article of the Head of State “The Course towards Future: Modernizing Public Consciousness” and talked about the ongoing work on the prevention of religious extremism and radicalism among young people.
For young people today, the right choice would be to follow the spiritual, moral, ethical principles that are common to all traditional religions and have become universal values. At the same time, we urge young people to strive for knowledge and progress, and not to recoil to medieval dogmas and obscurantism, – the Minister said.
Members of the Council discussed a number of important issues. In particular, the implementation of the Action Plan for 2016-2017 on the implementation of the Strategy of International Youth Cooperation of the CIS Member States for the period up to 2020, the results of the XIX World Youth and Students Festival, the preparation for the finale of the CIS International Project 100 Ideas for the CIS .
During the meeting, the members of the Council noted Kazakhstan’s positive experience in patriotic and ecological education, the development of the volunteer movement and the development of youth resource centers. The meeting participants were also introduced to the activities of the RDE “Youth”.
Kazakhstan has completed its chairmanship in the Council on CIS Youth Affairs and passed the torch to the Kyrgyz Republic.
The participants of the meeting noted the high level of Kazakhstan’s chairmanship in the Council and expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Civil Society of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
