Kazakhstan collects 23.1 million tons of grain this year

At a selector meeting of the Government of Kazakhstan chaired by Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev, First Vice Minister of Agriculture Kairat Aituganov reported on the results of harvesting.

Thus, the gross grain harvest amounts to 23.1 million tons in bunker weight that is 1.4 times higher compared to the previous year. Average yield is 15.2 centner per hectare. Akmola region has collected 5.7 million tons of grain, South Kazakhstan region � 5.6 million tons, Kostanay region � 5.5 million tons. Karaganda region has collected over 1 million tons of grain crops, the yield is 14 centner per hectare, which is record-breaking harvest in the history of regional agriculture.

In Aktobe and West Kazakhstan regions the millet yields increased by 4 and 3 times respectively compared to last year.

Southern regions continue to harvesting cotton, sugar beet and rice, there is also expected a high yield. This year, gross harvest of rice amounted to 432 thousand tons. In Kyzylorda region the yield reached 47 centner per hectare which is a record.

In addition, oilseeds were harvested from 46.7% of harvesting areas. Gross harvest is forecast higher than last year by 1.2 times. The yield is 10 centner per hectare, while it has not exceeded 8.1 centner per hectare over the last 5 years.

It was noted at the meeting that completion of grain harvesting at the shortest possible time is due to a high level of organization, timely resolving the logistical issues and the use of high-performance harvesting equipment.
