Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan Energy Ministries discuss Kashagan oil export

During the visit to Azerbaijan, Deputy Minister of Energy Magzum Mirzagaliyev met with Azerbaijani Minister of Energy Natiq Aliyev, the sides discussed new projects of the two countries.

M. Mirzagaliyev stressed the importance of EXPO 2017 international exhibition to be held in Astana. He also invited head of Azerbaijani Ministry of Energy to partake in VIII International Forum on Energy for Sustainable Development to be held in June 11-14, 2017, in the framework of EXPO.

In addition, the sides addressed the issues of Kashagan oil export and expressed the importance of creating in Kazakhstan the diversified exports system and new China-oriented energy projects. The issues of alternative and renewable energy sources were covered as well.

Azerbaijani Minister of Energy noted that despite the ongoing efforts the share of alternative and renewable energy sources in the energy balance of the country is rather low. Therefore there is a need in attracting the private capital in this area, as well as in creating favorable conditions and improving the regulatory framework.

M. Mirzagaliyev participated in the VII International Forum on Energy for Sustainable Development held in Baku.
