According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, the issues of bilateral political and economic cooperation were discussed during the consultations, including new measures to enhance trade and investment cooperation within the framework of the creation of the “Astana” International Financial Center, as well as in the field of technologies and services in the mining sector and supplies of equipment.

In addition, an exchange of views took place on a wide range of topical issues on the international and regional agenda, including priorities for Kazakhstan’s membership in the UN Security Council in 2017-2018. The sides reached an agreement on cooperation in the field of countering terrorism and interaction with the permanent missions in New York to strengthen peace and security.

The Australian side highly appreciated Kazakhstan’s contribution to the Syrian settlement through the holding of four rounds of the Astana process, which resulted in the establishment of a ceasefire regime and the formation of zones of de-escalation in Syria.
