Kazakhstan and Hungary agreed upon establishment of diplomatic relations 25 years ago
The dynamics of bilateral relations clearly demonstrates the desire of the parties to consistently develop the Kazakh-Hungarian cooperation, on the basis of mutual interests.
In 1992 Hungary became one of the first states to recognize Kazakhstan’s independence, and in 1993 in Budapest our first diplomatic mission in Central and Eastern Europe was opened.
The powerful boost to extension of an all-round dialog was given by President N. Nazarbayev (1994 and 2007) and Prime Minister K. Massimov (2014) visits to Hungary, as well as President P. Schmitt (2010) and Prime Minister V. Orban (2013 and 2015) visits to Kazakhstan.
Relations between Kazakhstan and Hungary are characterized as strategic. A solid international treaty framework, successful activities of Strategic Council, intergovernmental commissions on trade, economic and legal cooperation, as well as of the group of interparliamentary friendship contribute to deepening the interaction between two countries.
For a quarter of the century of partnership, trade and economic relations have developed actively, a number of joint economic projects have been successfully implemented, a joint agricultural private investment fund has been created, and Hungarian Trade House is opened in Astana. In our economy the Hungarian oil and gas company “MOL” is among large investors.
Countries are interested in strengthening cultural and humanitarian cooperation. At Kodolanyi Janos University of Applied Sciences, the Honorable Department “Kazakhstan way and N.A. Nazarbayev” was opened, in the Hungarian national library “Szechenyi” – Center of the Kazakh literature and culture, and Almaty school ? 154 was given the name of the Hungarian turkologist Istvan Mandoki Kongur.
The number of students studying in universities of two countries grows regularly. The Hungarian students study the Kazakh language, and the Hungarian professors teach at the Kazakh universities. Artists, scientists and athletes of two countries take an active part in various cultural and sporting events.
In the capitals of two countries the streets of Budapest and Astana are opened. In Budapest, a bust to the great Abay was installed.
Kazakhstan is confident that our strategic partnership with Hungary will be further strengthened for the benefit of the peoples of both countries, in the interests of peace, security and stability.
