KAZAKH INDUSTRY AND INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT MINISTRY FOCUSES ON REDUCING COSTS OF AIR TICKETS
In order to fulfill the order of the Head of State regarding the decrease of prices for air transportation, domestic airlines have already reduced the average cost of air ticket on domestic routes by 12%. The launch of the first low-cost airline in Kazakhstan had a significant impact on the air transportation market, and in general, this fact allowed increasing competition within the domestic market leading to the decrease in the tariffs for air tickets, Kazakhstan’s Civil Aviation Administration’s press service informs.
With the establishment of Fly Arystan airline, an increase in passenger traffic is observed in Kazakhstan: in Nur Sultan – 48%, Almaty – 45%, Semey – 1013%, Taraz – 734%, Pavlodar – 117%, Karaganda – 90%, Shymkent – 57%, Uralsk – 54%.
The Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan in conjunction with the interested governmental bodies and quasi-state entities are working on the implementation of a number of measures for reducing the cost of air tickets.
Moreover, according to the instructions from the Head of State on the reduction of prices for aviation fuel, Vice-Minister of Industry and Infrastructure development Berik Kamaliyev held a meeting with the representatives of the main airports and foreign airlines operating to Kazakhstan.
State-owned airports have been instructed to reduce the cost for jet fuel to the average market level and amend the agreements with the foreign airlines in accordance with this decision. The cost of aviation fuel takes the largest share in the cost of air travel – up to 30%.
The meeting was attended by Nur-Sultan, Karaganda, Almaty, Shymkent, Aktau airport managers and representatives of Air China Limited, China Southern Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Atlasglobal, Aeroflot, Fly Dubai, Uzbekistan Airways, Pegasus, Etihad Airways, Siberia Airlines, Ural Airlines and Belavia airlines.
In general, the issue of reducing the cost of jet fuel and air tickets will remain under the control of the Ministry and the progress on this issue will be carried out on a permanent basis.
