Kazakh FM met with heads of diplomatic missions
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Beibut Atamkulov held a briefing for the heads of diplomatic missions and representative offices of international organizations accredited in Kazakhstan.
The Minister noted that President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, defined the main task of the Government to increase the welfare and quality of life of Kazakh citizens.
The main task of the Foreign Ministry is to provide favorable external conditions for the sustainable socio-economic development of the country by political and diplomatic means, the Minister stressed opening the meeting.
Kazakhstan considers the development of the multilateral and multi-level diplomacy as a strategic resource of the foreign policy. Astana’s message is clear – an inclusive dialogue between the leading powers is needed to overcome bloc thinking and reach a consensus on key issues on the world agenda. Conflicts should be resolved through diplomatic means based on the principle of collective responsibility. This promise the Head of our State brings from all the high tribunes. His initiatives for holding a meeting between global players (USA, Russia, China, EU) and updating the Helsinki Act are aimed at achieving this goal. Kazakhstan will take further active efforts to consolidate the global anti-nuclear movement. Work will continue on the creation of a UN Regional Hub in Almaty, the press service of the Foreign Ministry informed.
The agenda for 2019 includes the preparation of top-level events in the CSTO, CICA, SCO, OIC, and CCTS framework.
At the initiative of the Head of State, Astana plans to host the First World Congress of Turkologists. This year will mark the 5th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on the EEU and the 25th anniversary of the idea of Eurasian integration of President N. Nazarbayev. Also such forums as the XII Astana Economic Forum and the IV Meeting of Speakers of the Eurasian Parliaments on the topic Greater Eurasia. Dialogue. Trust. Partnership are planned. In June 2020, the 12th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO) will take place in Astana.
Kazakhstan will continue to help resolve conflicts, in particular, the Syrian crisis in the framework of the Astana process.
The Foreign Minister elaborated on the priorities of interaction between Kazakhstan and Russia, China, the USA, the countries of Central Asia, the European Union, the CIS, Turkey, Iran, the states of the Arab East, Asia and Africa, as well as Canada and Latin America.
In the light of the new functions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, complex work will be intensified to further improve the investment climate in accordance with the standards of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. Together with the World Bank, the National Investment Strategy Investment Promotion Program was developed and adopted. The expansion of the geography of pragmatic economic relations with a focus on the development of innovative and service sectors in the country is expected.
The launch of the Astana International Financial Center, the International Center for the Development of Green Technologies and Investment Projects, as well as the international technology park of IT start-ups Astana Hub on the basis of EXPO provides a good opportunity for joint initiatives.
In the framework of the Rukhani Zhangyru program, work will be intensified on a comprehensive study of the historical and cultural heritage of Kazakhstan and its promotion on the world stage. Kazakhstan expects that cultural and humanitarian cooperation will become a significant factor in relations with the countries of the world.
Work on visa liberalization will continue. Today, citizens of 45 countries have the right to visa-free entry to Kazakhstan for up to thirty calendar days. Agreements on exemption from visa requirements for holders of civil passports have been signed with 20 countries. Since January 1, 2019, a pilot project for issuing a single-entry visa for foreigners in electronic format has been implemented in Kazakhstan. Tourist e-visas are issued to citizens of 117 states, business and for treatment e-visas – 23 states.
