Kazakh-Chinese dam to secure ICBC Khorgos
The construction of the mudflow check dam Chukurbulak by Kazakhstan and China on the Khorgos River will allow intercepting up to 9.8 million cubic meters of mudflow.
As previously reported, the agreement was signed on June 8, 2017 in Akorda in the presence of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and the Chairman of the People’s Republic of China.
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yuri Ilyin and Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China Wang Yi took part in the singing of the agreement.
It should be noted that Khorgos River falls in the category of high mudflow hazard, according to the criteria of mudflow and flood hazard.
In the mainstream of the mudflow hazardous river is the Kazakhstani part of the international cross-border cooperation center (ICBC) Khorgos.
