Kazakh athletes improve personal performance results at the Universiade-2017
Kazakh athletes performed well the Universiade-2017, thanks to thorough preparations and Kazakhstan’s training system. This was reported during a Government press conference by the Chairman of the Committee for Sports and Physical Education of the Ministry of Culture and Sport Yelsiyar Kanagatov.
Y. Kanagatov reported that before each sporting event, especially as large as the World Winter Universiade, it is tasked to improve results shown in previous competitions.
He reminded that in 2015 Kazakh athletes won 5 gold and 6 silver medals, placing third in the overall standings.
The challenge was to improve results. And we have achieved such results thanks to the great work that has been done before the Universiade in Almaty, with the support of the National Olympic Committee, sports federations and to the training system we have in this country. Through carrying out such a successful Universiade, undoubtedly the interest in sports in our country will increase, � Y. Kanagatov said.
He also noted that systematic work is conducted for the development of sports in Kazakhstan, and that the Head of State in his Address instructs that it is foremost important to develop mass sport. In addition, the President tasked to achieve a 30 percent index of population involvement in sports by 2020.
