Kazakh and US Armed Forces officials designate priority areas of cooperation

The Ministry of Defence hosted a meeting of the First Deputy Minister of Defence � Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan � Lieutenant General Murat Maikeyev with the Commanding General of US Army Central Lt. Gen. Michael X. Garrett.

The meeting covered the current and prospective issues of Kazakh-US military cooperation. In particular, the sides talked about the work on the new draft five-year plan for 2018-2022. They also discussed general issues of further Kazakh-US cooperation in the sphere of military field medicine, training of engineers. The meeting also covered the aspects of strengthening Kazakhstans peacekeeping capacity and general issues of regional security.

The official visits program includes visits to the National Military and Patriotic Center of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan and the National Defence University named after the First President of Kazakhstan � Leader of the Nation.

Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan Major General Murat Bektanov and Head of National Defence University Major General Askhat Ryspayev will hold bilateral negotiations with the Commanding General of US Army Central Lt. Gen. Michael X. Garrett.
