Kazakh and Chinese researchers to jointly study issues of climate change and land reclamation

The purpose of the Memorandum is to create a basis for long-term communication between the two organizations by maintaining and enhancing the opportunities for scientific, technical, professional, academic and educational exchange between their members, through a continuing program of cooperation for the mutual exchange of knowledge and experience.

The Memorandum was signed by Chairman of the Governing Council of QazaqGeography Kanat Baigarin and President of the Geographical Society of China Bojie Fu.

According to Kanat Baigarin, the chairman of the governing council of QazaqGeography, the document is of fundamental importance for future joint projects related to environmental, climate, desertification, transboundary water resources and other issues of importance for Kazakhstan and the People’s Republic of China.

During the meeting, the plans of scientific and expeditionary studies of QazaqGeography and the Chinese Geographical Society, issues of desertification and reclamation of lands, water resources and biodiversity were also discussed.

It should be noted that the Geographical Society of China is one of the oldest academic societies in China with more than 20,000 members, the establishment of an official partnership with which is a historical moment for QazaqGeography.

geography, climate;

environment, natural resources;


tourism, travel, local history;

historical and cultural heritage, ethnography.

At present, 11 representative offices work in the following regions: Almaty, Akmola, Aktobe, East Kazakhstan, West Kazakhstan, Karaganda, Kostanay, Mangystau, Pavlodar, North Kazakhstan and South Kazakhstan.
