Kairat Abdrakhmanov: 10 countries show active interest in partnership with the EAEU

International activities of the Head of State and Kazakhstan’s participation in integration projects greatly aid the country in developing economic diplomacy. This was reported by Minister of Foreign Affairs K. Abdrakhmanov at a briefing at the Government press center.

Kazakhstan is actively working along the lines of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). At present, the Foreign Ministry of Kazakhstan initiated negotiations on the development of trade and economic cooperation and creation of EAEU free trade zones with ten countries.

Preparation is underway of the agreement on trade and economic cooperation with the PRC, negotiations with India and Serbia have been started, agreements on free trade zones with Israel, Singapore, Egypt and Iran are being developed. Interest in partnership with the EAEU is shown by South Korea and some countries of South America, including Chile and others.

This year it is planned to complete work on the agreements on international treaties of the EAEU with third countries, integration associations and international organizations. Starting 2018, a new EAEU Customs Code will come into force, aimed at the facilitation and automation of customs procedures, creation of favorable conditions for citizens and entrepreneurs of participating countries.

In addition to cooperation within the framework of integration projects, Kazakhstan continues to actively establish bilateral international relations.

It should be noted that the Head of State pays special attention to developing economic diplomacy in Kazakhstan. Almost all official visits abroad include separate meetings of the President of Kazakhstan with foreign business community, where commercial agreements are concluded, � K. Abdrakhmanov said.

According to the Foreign Ministry, in 2016, during the visit of the Head of State to Iran, 48 agreements were signed for a total of 1.4 billion USD, in Turkey – 20 documents for 520 million USD, in Saudi Arabia – 10 agreements for 200 million, in Japan – 13 documents for 1.2 billion, in South Korea – 24 contracts for 640 million USD.

This year, during the visit of the Head of State to the United Arab Emirates, agreements were reached on implementing joint investment projects worth 6.3 billion USD.
