K.Kassymov: A total number of crimes decreased in Kazakhstan in 2016
During the Government meeting, Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan Kalmukhanbet Kassymov informed that the total number of crimes in Kazakhstan reduced this year.
“The total amount of crimes in the country reduced by 3.5% and numbers 256 thousand. The number of minor offenses decreased by almost a quarter, the number of serious -by 9% and particularly serious crimes- by 16%. The number of murders decreased almost by 5%, rape – by 24%, robberies – by 10% and robberies with extreme violence – by14% and other crimes. Last year the quantity of crime committed with use of traumatic weapons reduced by 79%, and almost by 26% – in the current year. It indicates for accuracy of the decision to purchase traumatic weapons from population, and introduction of criminal liability for its trafficking in January of this year,” K. Kassymov said.
However, the Minister noted that robberies make more than 60% of all crimes, mostly of small and medium gravity – theft of cell phones, personal items from cars, pick-pocketing and other.
