Issekeshev Has Instructed to Take Prompt Action for the Launch of the New Bus Routes and Opening of Bus Shelters
Asset Issekeshev has instructed to take prompt action to launch new bus routes and open the bus shelters. According to him, in the view the roads built in the capital (over 800 km), the capital requires installation of about 250 bus stops, in the design of which the climatic conditions of Astana should be taken into account. In addition, the mayor noted that the new stops should be comfortable. These complexes will be mainly built at the expense of public-private partnerships, and the project implementation has been scheduled for the first half of 2017.
It should be noted that the new bus shelters and bus routes will appear in the city upon the development of the road network. Thus, until the end of 2016, 45 new glass and perforated bus stops will be furnished in Astana. In parallel, designing of the new closed-type bus stops is carried out. They are planned to be installed in the areas with large passenger flow. It is also possible to arrange of bus stations, which will consist of closed-type commercial and technical premises of large sizes, as well as an open-type area. On the territory of a bus station, fast food facilities, public toilets, payment points, light boxes and much more can be located.
Asset Issekeshev also paid attention to the renovation of bus fleets, improving the quality of passenger services, reducing intervals of buses and removal old vehicles from the line. The Mayor noted that the population of Astana is constantly growing, respectively, the load on public transport increases. As of today, every day more than 700 units of public transport, which serve the passenger flow of 875 thousand people, ply in the city.
It should be noted that Astana bus fleetsare preparing to receive 210 modern and comfortable buses of IVECO brand in 2017. The acquisition of the new rolling stock was made possible due to the investment support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The new buses will be equipped with information systems, air conditioning, heating, video surveillance, and special folding ramps for people with disabilities and parents with prams.
Reference: Update of rolling stock will lead to a change in traffic patterns of the bus routes. Passengers can always follow its timetables in ASTRA Bus application and on 110 information panels that will be installed before the end of 2016. So far, this equipment operates in a test mode. According to the plan, another 72 information panels will be installed at bus stops of the city in 2017.
It should be recalled that the first 358 buses were purchased in November 2015, which established itself as a high quality and reliable transport, especially it was noted in the winter period.
