Inflation in Kyrgyzstan accelerated to 16.2% in February 2023 from 15.3% in January, according to the weekly macroreview released by analysts of the Eurasian Development Bank.
Increase of excise tax rate for cigarettes and growth of health care service prices contributed to acceleration.
“Weakening of som observed since the end of the previous year also influenced prices of suppliers of goods and importers of consumer goods,” said the review.
Inflation may decelerate since mid-spring, EBD analysts said.
“Volatility in inflation dynamics will retain in the rest of the year. However, inflation is expected to go down,” analysts said.
