In MIC of the RoK, the issues of Internet access in Kyrgyzstan discussed
In Ministry of Information and Communications, Republic of Kazakhstan, the meeting was held between Minister Dauren Abayev and his counterpart, Bakyt Sharshembiyev, Chairman of State Committee for Information Technologies, Kyrgyz Republic.
The event was also attended by executives of telecom operator companies, such as KazakhTelecom JSC, Transtelecom JSC, KazTransCom JSC and TNS-Plus LLP.
At the meeting, the topical issues on bilateral interdepartmental cooperation in multiple areas, including the Internet, were discussed. In this regard, Kazakhstan party raised the issue of the need for certain Kyrgyz telecom operators to settle their existing accounts receivable.
Also, it was pointed out that Kazakhstani operators, regardless of the existing debt, did not cease providing Internet access services to Kyrgyz operators. Moreover, subject to settlement of accounts receivable, they expressed willingness to further cooperate and interest in expanding the bandwidth.
In the end of the meeting, Kyrgyz party suggested discussing with their telecom operators the problem with the settlement of accounts receivable, and subsequently holding a meeting with Kazakhstani operators in order to make appropriate decisions.
In addition, KazakhTelecom JSC and Transtelecom JSC were instructed to consider the possibilities of concluding long-term contracts. Currently, only two Kazakhstani companies have contractual relationships with Kyrgyz counterparts as to the Internet access services: KazTransCom JSC and TNS-Plus LLP.
It should be reminded that relationships between telecom operators, including pricing for services of international traffic transit or leasing the communication channels, are not regulated by government agencies.
