In Kyrgyzstan, people with cancer are recommended to be vaccinated against COVID-19, Sherbet Zhusupova, head of the oncohematology department of the National Center of Oncology and Hematology of the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan said during a briefing on Monday.

The specialist added that the new strain of Omicron identified in people with chronic or oncological diseases can be severe with a high risk of complications. Despite the fact that clinically this strain is not so dangerous, there is a risk of complications in case of infection for the category of people with low immunity.

“Experts note that people vaccinated have an easier and quicker recovery from this strain. For this reason, people with cancer or chronic diseases should be vaccinated and revaccinated. It is not necessary to cancel chemotherapy,” said Sherbet Zhusupova.

In short, these diseases are not contraindications to vaccination
