Daily monitoring showed that over the past week in the Republic of Kazakhstan there is a tendency to reduce the incidence of measles, in Astana it decreased by half.

The chairman of the Public Health Committee of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the country, Gendarbek Bekshin, spoke about the epidemiological situation of measles in Kazakhstan in the Central Communications Service.

“Over the past week, from January 21 in Almaty, the incidence of measles decreased to sporadic cases, that is, they are rare. In 9 -11 regions of the country there is no daily incidence. In Astana, the daily incidence with peak regimes has decreased by 2 times over very good performance, “said Gendarbek Bekshin.

The country’s chief medical officer named the main causes of measles in Kazakhstan, which were obtained as a result of high-tech research.

“One of the reasons was the non-closure of the space – according to official data, only in the European region more than 70 thousand cases of measles were registered. In 37 European regions a high incidence is registered: in Serbia more than 5 thousand cases, in Ukraine more than 40 thousand cases in Germany and Italy – more than 3 thousand cases, in the UK – about 1000 cases. In Kazakhstan, the pathogen was also imported during citizens’ immigration processes. and patients with measles in Kazakhstan. The study showed that the same strains circulate in the republic as on the European continent – D8 and B3. Strain B circulates in Kazakhstan to a greater extent, it has genetic lines like Dublin and Kabul. Kabul “is very toxic, The outbreak of measles in Ukraine is caused by the strain B3 “Kabul”. These strains we identified. It is worth noting that these two strains Dublin and Kabul have never been circulated in Kazakhstan, the speaker said.

The second and main cause of morbidity in the country, he said, is the gap in vaccination, which occurred in the late 80s – early 90s for objective reasons.

There were disruptions in vaccine receipts, and many citizens were not vaccinated, someone missed the second vaccination. Accordingly, an increase in the incidence was observed in those years. Since the end of the 90s, a second vaccination was introduced in the republic – at 6 years old they were given revaccination to improve immunity.

Space at that time is now affected. At present, among the sick are dominated by non-rooted children who have not received intrauterine immunity from their mothers. This is the main reason. It is these children, 57% of all patients who have measles. that is, before they reach the vaccine age, they are already beginning to get sick. It can be said that this is a flaw, a disservice to mothers who did not take root in time, said J. Bekshin.

Recall that the most basic measure of measles prevention is vaccination. If unvaccinated are detected, 100% vaccination is performed. Today, in the outbreaks where there is a patient and there were contacts with them, more than 3,100 people have been vaccinated. All patients are hospitalized, they are placed under medical supervision. Also, for 17-21 days, they also monitor contact with the sick.
